Square Loyalty is a handy choice if you already run Square POS, because points are tied to each sale and customers join with their phone number at checkout. Regulars suits shops that want a stamp or points card living in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, with no special till, no app and a scanner on any phone. If Square is your till and you like phone number check-in, Square Loyalty makes sense. If you want a wallet card that sends lock screen messages and works with any POS, Regulars is the better fit.
How do Regulars and Square Loyalty compare?
The big difference is where the card lives and what runs it. Square Loyalty runs inside Square's own sales tools. Regulars runs on its own, beside whatever till you use.

How much does Square Loyalty cost?
Square prices loyalty per location, and the price depends on your region and plan. On Square's Canadian loyalty page, as listed on their site in October 2026, it costs $60 a month per location for 0 to 500 loyalty visits. It goes to $100 for 501 to 1,500 visits and $140 for more than 1,500. In the US, Square's pricing page lists loyalty as part of its paid Plus plan. Square's December 2025 pricing post put Square Plus at $49 a month per location. Prices change, so check their site for current details.
Regulars is a monthly plan. Starter is $49 a month for one location. Growth is $99 a month, plus $49 for each extra location. Pro is $199, plus $79 for each extra location. Cardholders are unlimited on every plan (fair use). See Regulars pricing for the full list.
When is Square Loyalty a good fit?
Square Loyalty is a good fit when Square is already your till. Points land on the sale itself. Staff don't scan anything extra.
- ๐ณ You ring up every sale on Square. Rewards tie straight into your POS and your customer list.
- ๐ฑ Your customers like phone number check-in. They type their number on the screen and they're done.
- โ๏ธ You want texts. Square sends automatic texts when customers earn, and its marketing tools add email and text campaigns.
- ๐งพ You sell online or by invoice on Square too. Customers can earn there as well.
When is Regulars a better fit?
Regulars fits best when you want the card on the customer's phone, not just a number in a till. The card sits in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and updates after every stamp.
- ๐งพ You don't use Square, or you might switch tills. Regulars works beside any POS, or no POS at all.
- ๐ You want lock screen messages. Send a short note like "Rainy Tuesday? Double stamps until 2 pm." It shows on the card and can pop up on the lock screen.
- ๐ค You want messages that run themselves. Six automatic messages are on by default: welcome, almost there, reward ready, we miss you, birthday and slow day boost.
- ๐ You want a simple sign-up. A first name is enough. Read why a first name is all you need.
- ๐ You work from a truck or a market stall. Any phone becomes the scanner.
How do I switch from Square Loyalty to Regulars?
You can switch in about a week, and you can keep Square for payments. There is no automatic import, so plan a short overlap.
- Make your card. Pick stamps or points and set your reward. Try the 30-day free trial.
- Put up the poster. Regulars makes a counter poster with your QR code.
- Tell your regulars. Ask them to scan and add the new card. Honour old Square points for a few weeks.
- Stamp with any phone. Staff sign in with a PIN and scan the card's QR code.
Our one-week launch checklist walks through it step by step. Keep on truckin', one stamp at a time.
